Deer Management Services by iQ Pest Control

iQ Deer Management have over 15 years of experience and hold the necessary Deer Management Qualifications and Insurance.

Deer are not considered a true pest species, that said deer are not always tolerated by landowners or the persons managing the landscape due to the destructive habits of deer. There is however an act of parliament protecting all UK Deer, The Deer Act 1991. Under the Deer Act, laws have been passed making certain practices illegal that are punishable and enforced by the criminal justice system. It is therefore essential for landowners to appoint experienced, insured and qualified professionals to undertake deer management on their property.

iQ Deer Management are always happy to discuss your many options so please do give us a call on 01280 811198

For deer populations to thrive the old and infirm need to be removed. There are no natural predators to control deer in the UK, therefore deer have to be managed by humans. In the not so distant past the UK had populations of wolves, lynx and bears which would have predated on the sick animals, now we need to rely on man to deal with this situation.

It is estimated that 350,000 deer are culled in the UK every year, added to this figure are are the high number of deer killed in road traffic accidents (approximately 50,000 animals), however deer populations continue to grow throughout the UK.

Deer cause environmental and economic damage, without the sustainable culling of deer the UK would be severely over populated by deer. Areas in the UK that are already over populated with deer have realised that other native species of bird, insect, reptile and mammal have suffered as a result.

Deer and the Damage They Do

Deer are well known for being responsible for seriously damaging trees, crops and flowers they also have an unfortunate tendency to run in front of vehicles causing around 50,000 road traffic collisions annually. There have been a number of road traffic collisions in the UK where the occupants of the vehicle have unfortunately died as a result of the crash. If not fatal for either party the car involved could be left severely damaged and a wounded deer laying by the roadside suffering.

iQ Deer Management will work with you to control and manage your deer population to reduce the crop, tree and flower damage to an acceptable level. Deer population control and management will furthermore decrease the chances of road traffic collisions.

Whatever species of deer call us on 01280 811198, we can offer tailored services ranging from deer fencing to population control.

Deer in the UK

In the UK we have 6 species of deer, technically only 2 of them are truly indigenous those being the Red Deer and Roe Deer.

The remaining 4 species the Muntjac Deer, Chinese Water Deer, Fallow Deer and Sika Deer have been introduced.

The Fallow have been present for many centuries believed to have been introduced to the UK by the Normans in the 11th Century so are now essentially considered as indigenous.

Muntjac and Chinese Water Deer have only been a wild UK deer species for less than a century whereas Sika Deer have been wild in the British Countryside for around 150 years.
