Wasp Control and Wasp Nest Removal

Prices starting from £59

We have heard of some awful stories of customers attempting to treat their own wasps nest and ended up getting stung multiple times, we have even visited an unfortunate customer that was hospitalised after trying to complete a DIY wasps nest treatment.

For very obvious reasons it is never recommended to attempt to destroy a wasps nest without the necessary PPE protective clothing and equipment which includes a respirator a bee/wasp suit and thick leather gauntlet gloves. We also only use specialist application equipment and “professional use only” insecticide the combined cost for all of this equipment and the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) this alone will close to £600.

Whereas for a small fraction of the cost we can complete a wasp nest treatment safely and efficiently, usually the same day or next day after receiving your phone call. Please call iQ Pest Control on 01280 811198 to request a quote - prices starting from £59.

Some people are however brave or perhaps silly enough to attempt to tackle a wasp nest on their own. This will often lead to being attacked by an enraged swarm that are protecting their home. If your DIY attempt does destroy their nest you will now have house full of violent and homeless wasps.

iQ Pest Control guarantee to first locate then remove and dispose of the nest and wasps from your home, business or garden.

Everyone knows that wasps are aggressive belligerent pests, it is never recommended to attempt to destroy a nest without professional help.

iQ Pest Control use an insecticide powder, when deposited on a worker wasp they unwittingly carry it back to their queen inside the nest, which kills the queen. The whole process is quick and can be accomplished the same day. As wasp nests are often found in sheds or lofts it would be unlikely that you would need to vacate your premises.

Once iQ have dealt with the wasp nest and wasps have been exterminated and nest removed it would be recommended to proof your property so that wasps do not return the following year. Queen wasps emerge every year in extremely large numbers they are almost immediately on the lookout for a new home. So if a queen wasp found their way into your property this year it is quite probable that it will happen again.

To rid your property of wasps and keep them out, call iQ Pest Control on 01280 811198 to book your treatment now.

Almost everyone will have experienced a meal outside in your garden or a drink down your local and been incensed by persistent wasps. Wasps are attracted to the sweet food and drink which is often what we enjoy in the warmer months. Wasps determination to have their share of your food will rapidly turn to aggression when you try to swat them away.

Wasps are a real annoyance, but they are not responsible for the spread of disease like some of the dirty flying insects like bluebottles.

During the height of summer wasp populations are at their peak. This is when you will notice their activity the most, maybe entering or exiting under your guttering to go to and from their nest hidden in your loft or trying to get through open or closed windows to get into your home or business premises.

Anyone who has been stung by a wasp will tell you how painful and irritating they are. A wasp sting can trigger anaphylactic shock which could be fatal for the person who has received the wasp venom. Call iQ Pest Control immediately on 01280 811198 if you find a wasp nest in your home, a member of our professional will deal with your wasp problem fast.

Wasps in my home?

Very few people need any help to identify a wasp. Their winged black and yellow banded dart shaped sting tipped abdomen are one of the most easily recognisable and despised British insects.

Queens are around 20mm in length whereas the troublesome worker wasps are between 10-15mm. The most commonly found species of wasp in the UK is funnily enough the common wasp, vespula vulgaris, but also very common is the European or German wasp, vespula germanica.

Both species have very similar habits and make their nests in buildings, lofts, sheds, garages, under the ground, cavities in trees the list goes on.

Wasp lifecycle?

When queen wasps emerge from their nests in the autumn they have 2 things they must achieve. 1) Find a male to mate with 2) Find an appropriate place to hibernate over the winter. In late spring the queen comes out of hibernation and searches for a suitable place to make their nest.

Queens usually choose to make their nests underground or in roof cavities which is why we are commonly called out to deal with a wasps nest in a loft, shed or garden building.

Wasp nests are moulded by the wasps from wood pulp which forms a paper like material. The outer shell is smooth but inside the nest contains numerous chambers in the distinctive honeycomb pattern. An egg is laid in each of these chambers which hatch into larvae, the queen feeds the larvae on a diet of dead insects. When the larvae are fully grown they pupate and emerge as sterile workers, these worker wasps sole purpose is to rear newly hatched larvae and the next generation of queen.

As summer is coming to an end male wasps are born, their one and only function is to breed with the queen. As the weather gets colder all wasps die other than the queens. The queen abandons her nest as it will never be used again, she is on the lookout for a hibernation site and the lifecycle of the wasp starts again.
